Fun Classic Family Session in Corpus Christi, Texas

Being a photographer in Corpus Christi, you can imagine I get asked to shoot at the beach a lot, so it is always a nice change to get asked to do a family session somewhere else! Vanessa was certain she did NOT want to deal with the beach and wind and preferred more greenery and trees. Hans Suter Wildlife Refuge, or “Old Faithful” as I like to call it was the perfect spot. I loved how everyone was coordinating in black shirts but that they didn’t completely match with the style of shirt. A little variety is always best. On the day of the session poor little Jonah wasn’t feeling well and was not interested in letting go of his toy truck and his juice. Sometimes we have to just roll with the punches and in this case we all agreed to let him keep hold of those items. After all a toy truck in hand is better than a crying face. We made sure to get different group shots, just Vanessa’s mom and dad, just the siblings, etc. Toward the end of our session, Jonah looked like he was feeling a little better so we tried one last time to get a full group. It didnt go as planned but at least we tried and the photos will be fun to look back at when he is older.

I think we still got some absolutely beautiful portraits that are going to look amazing printed big on the wall. Can’t wait to get the large prints in a hopefully share a photo of it before it gets delivered!

Kristin + Juan Garduno Wedding | The Ranch at San Patricio | Corpus Christi, Texas

A little over a year ago Kristin emailed me to schedule some engagement photos. It was one of those connections that was just instant and by the end of their engagement session she said “I want you to do our wedding!”. Like heck yes!!!! I can honestly say it was a complete honor to get to work with Kristin and Juan. Their love is the easy kind, easy like Sunday morning I think was once said.

Their wedding day was filled with personal sweet touches, like handwritten letters to each other that they read pre-ceremony. Juan’s letter to Kristin, which she didn’t read out loud except for a small little bit written on the outside of the folded up treasure had ALL of us in tears. Thank goodness she waited until after to get her makeup done… the rest of us weren’t so lucky!

Their ceremony ended with a butterfly release was a first for me to get to photograph. It was so fun seeing the reactions on guests faces and getting shots of Kristin with her butterfly before it took of into the sky.

I will save all the details for a more formal blog post when I have gotten all of their photos finished and gallery delivered. For now here is a slideshow with some wedding highlights and just a glimpse of their love filled incredible wedding day!

Corpus Christi Bridal Session | Heritage Park

Chelsea might be the most beautiful middle school math teacher ever. Am I right?!? She got in touch with me just a couple of months ago to schedule some bridal photos. She already had a wedding photographer, and was getting married in New Braunfels but thought she would like to have some bridal portraits done to display at her reception! We decided on Heritage Park in downtown Corpus Christi. The sweet pastel colored historic houses and garden courtyard feel seemed to fit Chelsea’s soft, full, and fun gown perfectly! Her fiancé also requested that she get some photos in her gown by the water so we made a quick last stop at one of the Miradores on the Corpus Christi Bay near the American Bank Center. One of the reasons Chelsea chose this dress was because it was FUN! So of course we had to make sure her bridal photos showcased that which meant a lot of twirling, and showing off the movement of the layers and layers of tulle! I am so excited to finally be able to share these photos and hope you love them as much as I do. Wishing Chelsea and her new hubby all the happiness in the world and safe trip on their honeymoon!!! Can’t wait to work on future sessions and life milestones <3

Adrienne + Michael - Art Center Corpus Christi Wedding

Last year Adrienne contacted me looking for a photographer to cover her wedding celebration. She explained how she and Michael had gotten married at the courthouse when he was working out of state. Now her dad wanted them to have a wedding reception so all the family could celebrate together!

Their wedding day was very laid back and simple. They decided last minute that they would have a ceremony too. We started out with a few shots of the beautiful floral details and décor. Then headed to the little park nearby for some family group shots. Being a Corpus Christi wedding photographer has gotten me incredibly used to dealing with wind, but this day was exceptionally windy so we adjusted the plan and continued the group photos at the beautiful staircase in the courtyard at the Art Center.

I asked Adrienne to come up to the breezeway for a few quick bridal photo’s, which she totally rocked! Then it was time for their quick ceremony before moving right on to the party! A sweet first dance followed by mother/son dance and father/daughter dance, then cake cutting led straight into dancing the night away with their friends and family!

It was clear how loved and supported they are by their entire family and such an honor to be able to document their beautiful celebration of love.

Rebecca + Harry Engagement - Downtown Corpus Christi, Tx

Rebecca and Harry are native Corpus Christi-ans so the Corpus Christi mural done by Sandra Gonzalez on the Caller Times building seemed like a great place to start to their engagement session! The bright beautiful colors are so fun and matched their personalities perfectly.

Next, we headed over to Heritage Park. This is where we got to incorporate their adorable dog, Grace! As long as the location allows, I always love including those special fur babies in sessions!

We ended our session at one of the miradors on Corpus Christi Bay. The sky was a perfect blue with wispy clouds which made a perfect backdrop for a fun wide angle shot complete with a "foot popping kiss" (The Princess Diaries reference)!

Jenay + Chris Elopement | Corpus Christi Botanical Garden

It is always exciting as a photographer to get to shoot at new and unfamiliar locations. I was so excited last year to get to cover this intimate elopement for Jenay and Chris at the Botanical Gardens. Despite a rain filled morning they decided to go forward with the planned ceremony time and luckily the rain cleared

Jenay looked absolutely gorgeous in her beaded gown. The pavilion was a beautiful location looking out toward the lush gardens.

A short and sweet ceremony led to a quick set of detail and family group shots. We also included the photo of Jenay’s sister who had passed away. I am so thankful when couples are able to include their loved ones that are unable to be physically present.

A quick set of couple’s portraits showing the love and excitement between Jenay and Chris rounded out the celebration. The botanical gardens were absolutely beautiful. It has to be one of my favorite wedding and elopement venues in Corpus Christi!

Jenna + James San Antonio, TX Engagement Session

A few weeks ago I traveled to San Antonio for a fun engagement session with Jenna and James! We met up at Phil Hardberger Park and took off exploring the trails.

They asked if they could bring their dogs Rae and Barb to participate since their girls will be their flower girls in the wedding next October at The Gardens at Old Town Helotes! I said “Of course!” and they brilliantly brought along two trusted friends to handle the dogs in between shots!

I really just love engagement sessions because they are so laid back and just about you and your love. Being in front of the camera can be uncomfortable for a lot of people but having your fiancé/e right there with you makes it a little bit easier. Plus I focus on your connection and personalities rather than getting you to strike the perfect pose. It always results in really beautiful images that just feel like… well … love!

I can’t wait for their wedding next October so we can create more beautiful photos and continue their story!!

Case's Cake Smash Session | Corpus Christi, Tx

Paper Airplane Cake Smash

Carissa and I first met in 2016 when she contacted me for her youngest daughters cake smash photos. She and her family were new to Corpus Christi and needed a new photographer to call their own. That session led to a 5th birthday glitter session, a newborn session when they added their son to the clan (right when hurricane Harvey was wreaking havoc on the Texas coast!), a 2nd birthday paint splash session, and now most recently Case’s 1st birthday cake smash!

1st birthday session

I always love to hear what Carissa has in mind for her kid’s sessions and when she mentioned wanting to keep with an aviator theme we incorporated into his newborn session I was thrilled! My wheels got to turning and the end result was an adorable and unique set that fit Case perfectly!

1st birthday photoshoot

We started with some cake free photo’s starring just Case and his cuteness. I mean… look at those eyes and that smile! He really knows how to turn on the charm.

Case was the perfect cake smasher. Sometimes little one’s aren't too sure about the cake but he went right to town, squeezing the icing and using it to paint the floor with! He even decided to take an unconventional approach to cake smashing. Case’s cake smash pro tip: you can absolutely demolish a cake if you sit on it instead of using your hands =!

I have the best time creating these sessions and watching them go crazy with the cake! If you have a little one getting ready to celebrate their 1st birthday fill out my session inquiry form and let’s plan their birthday photoshoot!!

Yes! I have plans for a small neutral colored upholstered sofa, cozy pillows, a throw, and some winter themed décor. Trust me, it will look great! You can expect mostly white, red, and green if you are wondering what to wear.

You will choose the images you like best and will also have the option to purchase additional photos from your gallery. Galleries will be delivered within 1-2 weeks. Kris + Daniel - Cinnamon Shore Wedding - Port Aransas, Texas

Last November I was given the opportunity to 2nd shoot/assist a fantastic husband and wife Video+Photo team, Juan Jose Photography. Juan handles the videography while his wife Rebekah takes care of photography! For this wedding they needed an additional photographer to capture all the details of the day and that is where I came in!

I was so excited to be able to cover a ceremony at the absolutely stunning Cinnamon Shore in Port Aransas, TX. I absolutely love this venue. We showed up to capture the getting ready and detail shots before the ceremony was to start. The bridal party was staying in one of the luxurious homes just next to the lawn where the ceremony was to be held.

Upon meeting Kris it was apparent that this wedding would be unique, in the best possible way! I mean how fun is a Steampunk inspired wedding with a slight nautical twist!?!  Florals in pinks and maroon complimented her slightly blush lace gown and sparkling pink bridesmaids dresses to perfection.  Steampunk boots and a feather headpiece brought her wedding theme in to her wedding day attire. To die for!!

Before the wedding we headed out to take some bridal party photos with the *drumroll please* Rolls Royce they had rented to take them from the house to the beach boardwalk for their ceremony. Daniel had his crew in navy blue and, veering from the traditional all male groomsmen, had 1 gorgeous grooms-woman. I loved the way she was able to wear the same dress as the bridesmaids while matching the groomsmen in color!

Kris's love of cephalopods (fancy word for squid and octopi) was incorporated flawlessly into every detail by Jo Anne with Oh Goodie Designs. From the invitations, to the bouquet, to the favors, and even the cake!!

In lieu of a normal (and maybe boring) guestbook, guests signed an insanely cool globe lamp. A series of Edison bulbs glowed down the head table, which had me obsessing and wishing I could go back in time and have Edison bulbs at my own wedding!  Topping off the steampunk theme was the coolest pyrotechnic display ever! Gears shot awe inspiring flames into the night sky every so often. It was really an incredible sight.  I can not be more grateful to have been a part of capturing such a truly unique and incredible celebration of love and marriage! I can't wait for the next Cinnamon Shore wedding I get to cover.
